For Montreal’s Chromeo, Electro-Funk isn’t a retro 80s fad, it is an all-encompassing lifestyle. Those expecting a radical overhaul in Chromeo’s sound on Business Casual will be sorely disappointed, as it becomes abundantly clear after the first listen that it is still evidently 1985 in Dave-1 and P-Thuggs’ minds, not that this is a bad thing of course! Thriller-era synths battle with Thugg’s Roger Troutman-esque talkbox backing vocals and singer Dave 1’s lazy croon. Business Casual is the sound of Chromeo staying true to their funky palette while updating the sound for new generations. An ideal album to listen to in your Delorean.
