What we said:
There must be something in the water in Sweden. How else can we explain away their enviable track record of producing wonderful, quirk-filled pop? Continuing the good work of artists like Robyn, Jens Lekman and The Knife, Lykke Li already has one album of off-beat gems under her belt, 2008’s Youth Novels, and yet might just have topped it with its follow-up. Wounded Rhymes is a heady swirl of catchy hooks, cacophonous drums, thunderous bass and the swell of Li’s wonderful vocals, which can veer between youthful vulnerability and vixen-like sultriness in the space of a song. All of which has us wondering: how can we get some of that special water sent Cowell’s way?
