The mere utterance of the word ‘supergroup’ is enough to send most people running and screaming from the prospect of another self-indulgent vanity project from a herd of rock dinosaurs. Fortunately, Magnetic Man is a completely different beast. The product of dubstep über-producers Skream, Benga and Artwork, their eponymous debut is bursting with beats, breaks and guest vocalists like John Legend and Ms Dynamite. And slick, chart-friendly floor-fillers like ‘I Need Air’ and ‘Perfect Stranger’ aside, there are enough filthy basslines, syncopated beats and malevolent melodies to satisfy the fussiest of dubstep aficionados.
