As concept albums go, a rock opera about the approach of the reaper doesn’t sound like a recipe for massive commercial success. For My Chemical Romance however, The Black Parade proved just the ticket to propel them firmly into the spotlight. Four years on they’ve resurfaced, having swapped their goth Sgt. Pepper get-ups and pomp-emo for leather, pink hair dye and keyboard-laden rock. Before hardcore fans revolt though, we can reassure you that album number four is a million miles away from the lighters-aloft antics of The Killers: if the delirious punk thrash of a single ‘Na Na Na…’ proves anything it’s that success hasn’t tamed them.
