What we said:
With Lykke Li and Robyn doing a fine job of flying the flag for Sweden, Norwegian über-producers Stargate long-established as Rihanna’s go-to guys, and Denmark spawning Alphabeat, it’s fair to say Scandinavia has established itself a pretty impressive pop reputation thus far. And yet, it only gets better with this, the superb second album from an exceedingly attractive former ballet dancer named Nanna Øland Fabricus. Boasting perfectly-crafted pop in all manner of shapes – including the Goldfrapp-esque, glam-stomp of ‘Sun of a Gun’, the electro-pop of ‘Voodoo’ and the tender R&B of ‘Wolf & I’ – Oh Land is a gorgeous web of sparkling electronics and sweeping strings that more than atones for fellow Danes Aqua.
