To say it’s been a rapid rise to fame for The Vaccines would be somewhat of an understatement: in under a year they’ve gone from demo to debut, even snaffling bronze in the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll along the way. With the inevitable burden of hype and expectation currently weighing heavy on their shoulders, they’ve unleashed their first album – and it bears a befittingly apprehensive title. But with them capable of dispatching the Ramones-ish bluster of ‘Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)’ and punkish missives like ‘Norgaard’, alongside less-frenetic, Editors-meets-Chapel Club, indie-pop gems like ‘Wetsuit’, it’s fair to suspect they’ll be inoculating the masses against boredom for some time yet.
