In the years since 2008’s wonderful Dear Science, the ever industrious members of TV On The Radio have had no difficulty finding extra-curricular musical projects to sink their teeth into. And with Tunde Adebimpe loaning his vocal talents to Massive Attack and Dave Sitek dazing dancefloors with acclaimed side-project, Maximum Balloon, it comes as little surprise that Nine Types of Light sees them deliver their most groove-driven long-player to date. Less experimental art-rock, more fully-fledged, schizoid indie-funk, these New Yorkers may be continuing to journey the road less travelled but, Pied Piper-like, they’ll still be tempting an exponentially-extending fanbase to join them.
