What we said:
In our humble opinion, there were few finer albums released in 2010 than George Lewis Jr’s debut. Hell, we’ve been hammering it ever since. With that in mind, liking the follow-up just as much feels a little like cheating on a long-term lover. Reportedly inspired by surviving a motorcycle accident, and the subsequent buzz of burning rubber on the open roads again, Confess has a joyous, “Carpe Diem” feel about it, and sees Lewis Jr trade the lo-fi intimacy of Forget for a slicker, souped-up sound. We’ve given up on resisting the attraction so we suggest you strap your hands across his engines and feel the wind in your hair, because riding pillion with Twin Shadow is quite a thrill.
