How do you make yourself stand out in a city of 8.5 million people? For Brooklyn-based Yeasayer, the answer was out-weird all the other musical oddballs currently calling the Big Apple home, with the mind-bendingly eclectic Odd Blood. Building on the tribal-pop of debut All Hour Cymbals, its follow-up was a synth-heavy opus hewn from a fantastic melting-pot of disparate musical and cultural influences, including calypso rhythms, the odd Middle-Eastern melody and a menagerie of animal sound effects. Unforgettable.
