Guns N' Roses

While the 1980s Los Angeles rock scene will forever be associated with pretty-boy glam metal, it also spawned Guns N' Roses, one of the most in-your-face, streetwise, and controversial bands of the era. Axl Rose & company's roots lay in The Stones, Aerosmith, and The New York Dolls, but they added a pop-metal edge that brought them huge success. Criticized for its often non-p.c. approach, the original band lost its members one at a time, until by the late '90s Rose was the last man standing. The band's fourth album, CHINESE DEMOCRACY, was announced in 1999 but didn't receive an official release date for another 6 years. That date, March 6 2007, came and went, and despite playing several new songs during their sporadic tours, Guns N' Roses fans had been anticipating an album of new material for over a decade and a half.
