Ocean Colour Scene

Originally pegged as a late-for-the-boat Madchester act, Birmingham's Ocean Colour Scene reinvented itself as a more traditional rock band just in time for the Britpop boom of the mid-1990s. Championed by "Modfather" Paul Weller and Oasis mastermind Noel Gallagher, OCS re-emerged in '96 with the warmly embraced MOSELEY SHOALS, and reinforced its celebrated status with the subsequent MARCHIN' ALREADY, which topped the U.K. charts. Although the `60s-influenced ensemble never gained a substantial U.S. audience, it continued to have a following in England, with band members often backing up Weller on his solo outings.
