About The Police

Their innovative rock/reggae fusion, superb songwriting, and crossover appeal put the Police light-years ahead of many of their 1980s new-wave colleagues in terms of sales. Emerging just after the punk explosion of the late '70s, the trio rode to international stardom on a string of hit singles, and when they reached the top, they called it a day. Lead singer Sting (aka Gordon Sumner) went on to enjoy a hugely successful solo career, while Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers also went on to less high-profile solo careers. In early-2007 it was announced that the band were to re-unite for a world tour, unsurprisingly tickets sold out within hours of going on sale. The Police chose Grammy's to make their first public appearance in over 20 years, performing their classic single "Roxanne".
