Pelican
What We All Come To Need

Now settled in their new home at Southern Lord, the mighty Pelican are back with their latest, and arguably best, collection of monstrously epic soundscapes. A favourite at 7digital towers, Pelican are so back on form they even named their album What We All Come To Need - no arguments here.

Them Crooked Vultures
Them Crooked Vultures

Finally, the much-hyped supergroup Them Crooked Vultures have released their debut record. With members of QOTSA, Nirvana and some old band (Led...something?) the quality was always going to be high, but TCV have crafted a hard-riffing rock gem. Are you a fan of Rock? Then you need this.

Motley Crue

Motley Crue

Motley Crue ARE hard rock - this is fact. The band that didn't so much as take 'Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll' as an ideal as they did a reason for existence, the 'Crue were the epitomy of 80's sleaze. They wrote some of the best rock songs of their era, too - find one person who doesn't secretly love 'Girls, Girls, Girls' and we'll show you a liar. Nikki Sixx and the 'Crue rocked harder, longer and better than almost any other band ever, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake - Motley Crue, we salute you.

Beastie Boys
Sabotage

We still can't work out how this actually worked. Look at it objectively for a second - a trio of snotty, vegan punks, who turned their hand to rapping and actually gained respect, whilst showing the cajones neccessary to draft in metal luminary Kerry King of Slayer to guest (GUEST!) on one of their songs. If anyone tried that now they'd be, quite rightly, laughed out of town.

They weren't though. They went supernova. One reason for this is because they decided to dress up as 70s cops for the video to 'Sabotage', which to this day remains one of the most recognisable and popular hard rock songs ever. Best not to think about it too much, just turn up the volume and get ready to ROCK!
