| Our top pick of the singles at the moment is easily Laura Marling. Rounding off an amazing year with a new single and an absolutiely spellbinding instore here a week or so ago, we love Laura and can't wait to see what she shows us with her next record. On top of that, we've got a remix release of THAT Late Of The Pier song and some out-of-season summery pop-rock from Team Waterpolo. That new single from Bloc Party is still riding high, and don't forget the awesome last single from those Hackney punks and store favourites The King Blues! We've had a lot of big releases the past couple of weeks but none have hit us as hard as the new Los Campesinos! record. Capitalising on the momentum built buy their not-released-that-long-ago debut album 'Hold On Now, Youngster...', the album is a sprawling mix of insecurities, joys and in one song in particular, more hate than you'd expect from the current kings/queens of twee. Another recent big name comeback is the proper release of Bloc Party's third album, dipping into Radiohead-esque experimentalism while retaining their classic driving grooves. On top of that, 80s legends reappear with a new compilation of the best of The Smiths and the thirteenth studio album from The Cure. Plus stadium rockers Snow Patrol release another surely multi-platinum record. There's been so much good stuff out in our punk section recently! Two big British releases, one from Hackney punks The King Blues, the other from Welsh stars Funeral For A Friend. Following The King Blues from the beginning, the band have finally realised their full potential with an often thought-provoking, often touching album. Funeral, on the other hand, continue to step away from their early post-hardcore sound into grand and epic stadium rock. Fucked Up follow up 'Hidden World' with another expansive hardcore epic, sealing their place as one of the best hardcore bands ever. Meanwhile, polar opposites in local boys You Me At Six release their long-awaited debut album packed to the brim with hook-filled pop-punk sure to take them into the big time. Underoath's return with their sixth album, sees them take up a far more heavy and technical sound than previously seen. Some big names reappearing again recently. The Streets release their fourth album of witty, incisive and oh-so-British hip-hop with a back-to-basics ethic in mind. Mr Scruff returns to the full-length setting with 'Ninja Tuna', more fun and funky beats from him. The Bamboos lay down some deep funk featuring their massive Kings Of Leon cover, and Herve releases a new EP under his Action Man alias. As if that wasn't enough, The Chemical Brothers release a new best-of with all the hits you'd expect. You know all these tracks, they've been soundtracking clubs, films and the charts for years.
