7digital Powers New Digital Music Service for HMV in Canada

London, UK, 13 December 2013 7digital, the leading open digital music platform, today announced they are powering HMV’s new digital music service and mobile apps in Canada.

Following 7digital’s announcement last month that they provide the technology, apps and catalogue for HMVs UK and Ireland service and are supporting their international expansion, the companies can now confirm that the same digital music experience will now be available to Canadian consumers.

Through the HMV Digital service, Canadians can browse and purchase music through an online store or mobile device.  The service, powered by 7digital, features content from Major and Independent record labels and includes a strong representation of Canadian artists.  Purchases are added to the user’s virtual locker called ‘my hmv’ and can be saved to a device or to desktop, with an optional download manager for simple file management.  

The apps built by 7digital have innovative features including an image and audio recognition features, which allows users to scan physical album covers and identify music in the real world with their mobile device for quick access to the digital release and preview clips.
