7digital What we said: Not many bands would boast recording a video diary for ‘Countryfile’ as a career highlight. But then, British Sea Power aren’t like most bands and, when not adorning their live performances with plastic birds, foliage and the odd cameo from a ten-foot bear, can be found in the wild, inciting warfare between crows and squirrels. Fresh from a working holiday in the Sussex Downs, the mud-smeared oddballs are back, armed with their fifth album of chaotic indie-rock, Valhalla Dancehall. And on the strength of the feedback-drenched ‘Mongk II’ and the synthesizer-laden single ‘Living Is So Easy’, they ought to be protected under the Endangered Species Act, as one Britain’s most eccentric musical treasures.
