7digital What we said: You’d be forgiven for thinking the laid-back strumming of folk and vigorous power-chords of punk placed them firmly at opposite ends of the guitar-music spectrum. Not so. Or not according to Peter Liddle, anyway. The heavily-tattooed, Norwegian front man of Dry The River spent his youth rocking out to At The Drive-In and now dedicates his time to crafting “folky, gospel music [as] played by a post-punk band.” It’s paid off too: his group have already opened for Bombay Bicycle Club and been tipped by the BBC’s Sound of 2012 panel, plus their debut album boasts production from Peter “The National” Katis. It makes for pretty spirit-stirring listening.
