7digital What we said: Not content with making waves in the indie pond once this century, precocious talents Daniel Blumberg and Max Bloom have swapped the sparkling, guitar-pop sheen of ex-band Cajun Dance Party for a distinctly more DIY aesthetic with their new project Yuck. Wielding a brattish name and a befittingly fuzzy bluster, their debut is so filled with nods to early 90s American alt-rock, it’s hard to believe they were just toddlers when It’s A Shame About Ray was released. From the Lemonheads-ish jangle of ‘Georgia’ to the Dinosaur Jr.-aping, lo-fi antics of ‘Operation’, by way of ‘Suck’s Pavement-esque sliding guitar progressions, it’s drenched in borrowed nostalgia for the fondly-remembered 90s. But with such a disarming charm in their swagger, we can’t begrudge them a little bit of borrowing.
