7digital (AIM:7DIG), the global leader in B2B end-to-end digital music solutions, is delighted to announce that it has signed a contract with Dubset Media, Inc. (“Dubset”)

7digital has agreed an initial one year deal with Dubset, a rights tech company that identifies, claims, and collects royalties for labels and publishers when their catalogues are found within mix content. This clearance process enables DJs and producers to legally distribute their mixes and remixes to major music services including Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal. Under the terms of the deal, 7digital will provide access to the Company’s music platform to assist Dubset in further enhancing its proprietary MixSCAN recognition technologies.

Commercial terms are confidential but the deal will contribute to 7digital’s monthly recurring revenues for 2019 and the company will receive a significant set-up fee.

Commenting on the partnership, Simon Cole, CEO of 7digital, said: “Technology has levelled the playing field when it comes to creating music and distributing it to a receptive audience. This is a hugely exciting development, but it brings with it unique challenges. Dubset is growing a new marketplace for DJ sets and remixes, which represents a valuable revenue stream for rightsholders. We’re delighted to be using our platform to partner with Dubset and deliver value both to the music industry and to individual creators.”

Oberhausen, Germany – 28th March 2019 − ACCESS CO., LTD and 7digital have announced a partnership to bring cutting-edge connected radio services into the car. The collaboration will see 7digital’s IP radio services and APIs pre-integrated into ACCESS’ Twine for Car™ automotive service platform, delivering a solution that capitalizes on growing in-car connectivity to bring a wider range of audio services to drivers and passengers.

The partnership responds to the growing need for a broader choice of audio consumption by drivers and passengers on the road, without the location constraints of traditional broadcast services. In its 2018 Audiomonitor survey of UK consumers, research firm Audiencenet found that 22% of total time spent listening to music in a typical day is done in the car. As cars become more connected and consumers bring their personal devices inside their vehicle, traditional broadcast radio providers will need to keep pace with the expectations of always-on drivers and passengers. The partnership between ACCESS and 7digital aims to help the radio industry manage this transition seamlessly by delivering a platform that enables IP radio to integrate with existing broadcast services and evolve into new connected services. The solution will also allow for additional functionality, such as ‘listen again’ programming and on-demand podcasts, alongside new business models such as targeted advertising and recommendations, and will empower niche radio stations to increase their reach in a more cost effective way.

Simon Cole, CEO of 7digital, said: “In-car listening has always been central to the health of the radio industry. As we move to an environment where the connected car allows access to a world of content outside broadcast, there is a clear opportunity for radio to take advantage of its central position on the dashboard. Whether it is curating songs from the radio into playlists or providing listen-again services on the go, the connected car will be one of the most dynamic media environments and we are thrilled to be working with ACCESS on its development.”

Based on the ACCESS Twine for Car service platform, a unique solution encompassing connected entertainment and value added services, the integration will utilise 7digital’s APIs alongside a media player showing available stations for in-car playback. Looking forwards, the combined solution will allow users to pause live streams, enjoy on-demand podcasts and access ‘listen again’ programming. The partnership will also bring value to car manufacturers by enabling them to enhance their services by converging radio with cutting edge connected technologies.

“Digital entertainment services are offering consumers expertly curated entertainment experiences to enhance brand engagement. The radio industry needs to follow suit as it starts to embrace connected technologies. Through our partnership with 7digital, we’re putting radio back at the heart of in-car entertainment and fostering a platform for innovation ahead of the driverless car revolution,” said Dr. Neale Foster, CEO of ACCESS Europe.

ACCESS’ solutions have been shipped in over 1.5 billion devices worldwide to provide connected entertainment in cars, smartphones, tablets, game consoles and more. ACCESS works with Tier 1s, studios, broadcasters, content rights owners, consultants, the legal profession, licensing and collecting societies, Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology and infrastructure providers to help make the next generation of compelling in-car services a reality.

9th February 2018

7digital Group plc

(“7digital” or “the Company”)

Year end trading update

7digital (AIM:7DIG), the B2B digital music and radio services company, today issues a trading update for the year ended 31 December 2017.

Unaudited revenue for 2017 is expected to be up 52% at £17.3m (2016: £11.3m). The Company’s contracted and billed revenues for the period were in fact £18.6m, with revenues from major new client MediaMarktSaturn (“MMS”) at £6.5m. However, of this MMS revenue, £1.3m is to be recognised in Q1 2018 rather than in the 2017 financial period leading to reported revenue of £17.3m.

Losses at Adjusted LBITDA level are expected to be significantly reduced from the previous period and be better than market expectations.

Following the acquisition of 24-7 in June, operational restructuring has already begun and has resulted in the closure of the Company’s office in Paris and a reduction in headcount. The Board is pleased to report good progress towards its goal of profitability in the current financial year.  As previously announced, the Company has continued to make progress in signing new clients to its platform. This is in line with the Company’s Platform as a Service (“PaaS”) model. The PaaS model typically includes an upfront fee and an ongoing monthly recurring fee to support the platform.

Simon Cole, Chief Executive of 7digital, commented:

“2017 was a year which marked a major transformation at 7digital. Our acquisition in June of 24-7 and, with it, the contract to supply services to MediaMarktSaturn throughout Europe has cemented our market leading position as a business-to-business platform in the rapidly growing market for streamed music and radio services. Perhaps more importantly, it led to a profitable H2 and a significantly improved EBITDA loss for the year, ahead of expectations. This provides the right foundation for full year profitability in 2018.”

Contracts announced with MediaMarktSaturn and 8tracks, plus exciting client launch updates

We are pleased to announce new contracts with MediaMarktSaturn (MMS), Europe’s biggest electronics and entertainment retailer, and 8tracks, a popular digital music service based in the US.

7digital is pleased to confirm that it has signed a further agreement with its largest individual shareholder and one of its biggest customers, MediaMarktSaturn, to cover the migration of the existing “Juke” music service in Germany onto the 7digital platform. The contract involves a significant setup fee for work done in 2017 and ongoing monthly recurring revenues.

In addition, the Company is pleased to announce it has signed a contract with 8tracks, a popular digital music service based in the US. 8tracks was founded in 2008 and focuses on music discovery through crowd-curated playlists. The deal has a one-year minimum term and is expected to contribute to 7digital’s revenues for 2018 and beyond.

Client Launches

Progress continues to be made with regards to publicly launching other client services. Technology leader Altair Engineering, Inc. launched its service WEYV in the U.S. on 5th December. WEYV is a platform for streaming audio and visual content, for which 7digital provides access to music and technology services.

French company Deedo SAS launched its pan-African music service in France, Senegal, Mali and Ivory Coast. Launches in a further 23 territories are planned by 2020, including 16 in Africa, 5 in Europe, the USA and Canada. 7digital provides technology, access to music and web app development for the Deedo service.

German broadcaster Klassik Radio has also launched its radio streaming service ‘Klassik Radio Select’, focusing on classical and associated genres. 7digital provides Klassik Radio with access to music under a deal announced in Q1 2016. Klassik Radio has significant support from the industry and has to date announced several long-term license agreements with music labels Universal, Sony and Naxos.

Simon Cole, CEO of 7digital, commented:

“The further development of our relationship with MediaMarktSaturn strengthens an already fruitful relationship with a key player in Europe’s electronics and entertainment retail market, and further underpins our 2018 revenues.”

Warner Music Group and MQA Enter Long-Term Licensing Deal

HI-RES AUDIO

It was announced last week that Warner Music Group has agreed a long-term licensing deal with music technology specialists MQA. The agreement – the first between MQA and any major music company – will significantly increase music fans’ access to hi-resolution music globally. The agreement paves the way for recordings from WMG’s diverse roster of acclaimed artists and its world-renowned catalogue to be made available in studio master quality through MQA distributors.

Over the past year, we’ve listened to some of our favourite music in MQA, we have heard consumers’ glowing reactions to the experience and as an industry, we’ve started to make the case that quality doesn’t need to suffer for convenience. For these reasons, we are thrilled to share the news of this fantastic achievement for MQA and Warner Music.

MQA is a revolutionary technology, which delivers master quality audio in a file small enough to stream or download.  By delivering the sound of the studio masters from WMG’s iconic labels, MQA will enable the listener to step into the magic of the artists’ original performances. MQA music is currently available via High Res Audio, onkyomusic, e-Onkyo, 7digital, 2L and Technics Tracks. Over the coming months, MQA will expand to more streaming platforms and into download stores worldwide.

Bob Stuart, Creator of MQA, commented: “This collaboration is a giant step forward for MQA and music fans everywhere. We have been working tirelessly to ensure labels, studios, artists, services and playback partners understand the potential of our technology and the responses have been overwhelming. MQA is about bringing the most authentic sound to music lovers all over the world and WMG is our first major partner to help drive this mission forward.”

Craig Kallman, Chairman & CEO of WMG’s Atlantic Records division, noted: “The digital music era has been all about convenience.  It is fantastic that we can listen to virtually any song, anywhere, any time.  In that process, however, convenience has trumped sound quality, and we have gotten further away from the sound that artists work so hard to create. MQA makes hi-resolution music easy to stream or download to any device. Music fans will love it when they hear it, and WMG is thrilled to be partnering with MQA to take the next step in bringing hi-resolution music to consumers across the globe.”

7digital became the first B2B platform provider to offer MQA earlier this year through our own site and onkyomusic. We have been working with the creators of MQA from early stages of the technology and we remain the only B2B provider capable of offering MQA.
