I work in the Content Operations department overseeing the major label accounts and gathering requirements that help drive innovation from a label perspective.
What is the most exciting project you have been involved in?
We're currently working on a very exciting project to further improve our catalogue coverage in emerging territories. Sourcing local label content and working with labels from across the globe is really interesting.
What do you think the future of music looks like?
I think the concept of an album as we currently know it will change. As people's listening habits shift increasingly from the idea of a ten to fifteen track album, a more creative release process with single tracks that have a more fluid lifespan looks to be emerging. Artists can use the fast time to market that streaming services can now offer to write, deliver and release in a far more creative way. This reduces expensive marketing costs and responds to fan demand rather than the traditional label drum beat. This also lends itself heavily to the current trend of playlists.
Best technology innovation of the past five years?
On Demand TV and live streaming. This has really shifted the way people view entertainment in general and paved the way for some amazing TV content.
