7digital Extends Open Approach to Mobile with Software Developer Kit (SDK)

PRESS RELEASE

Genre and theme based mobile music and audio services enabled by new turnkey product

Reduced time to market for partners by releasing app framework for iOS and Android

Advertising, subscription and in-app purchase model technology supported

London, UK. March 7, 20147digital, the leading open digital music platform, today announced additional support for alternative access models for mobile music and audio apps. With the release of a new SDK for iOS and Android, 7digital have moved further towards their vision of simplifying access to the world’s music.

Music and audio partners that own, or have licensed their own content rights, can use the SDK to rapidly release their own iOS or Android apps with support for advertising, subscription and in-app purchasing. In addition, 7digital will work with customers and its content partners to license new, innovative services that use the new SDK.

7digital is powering some of the world’s leading services via their extensive set of scalable APIs. Alongside existing platform functionality – including support for advertising, subscription and in-app purchasing – the availability of an open SDK enables partners and rights-holders to pursue alternate, world-class consumer experiences in digital music.

The new SDK builds upon the experience that 7digital has gained working with partners such as Samsung, HTC, BlackBerry, and Microsoft. 7digital apps, for Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows have been installed more than 12 million times and have millions of active users every month.

“We believe in an open and collaborative process where we jointly address market opportunities with our partners,” said Ben Drury CEO of 7digital. “We’re excited about sharing our experience and expertise gained over the last ten years with our partners, and look forward to helping to deliver successful new mobile products to the market,” commented Drury.

“Our APIs offer robustness and richness not found in other B2B platforms, and our mobile app framework allows both faster-time-to-market and the opportunity to customise the experience to suit your needs,” said Gunnar Larsén, VP of Products at 7digital. We aim to help our partners with the licensing process, as well as innovate and infuse ideas that create value for all music lovers and stakeholders in the music industry,” Larsén concluded.

The new mobile app SDK, which allows developers to build apps that call 7digital APIs and authenticate users, browse the catalogue, listen to samples, download and stream music, will be available from 7digital’s developer website in March.
