Canva has become the first visual communication platform to add commercially released music at the point of creation, enabling its community of millions to create more engaging content by incorporating their favorite songs into their design work. 7digital is thrilled to partner with Canva on the newly available features by providing content delivery, tools, and reporting services for Canva.

Since launching in November, Canva’s Pro and Education customers in Australia, the EU, US, and Canada have been able to include sixty-second clips of commercially released songs from some of the world’s biggest artists in videos, social media posts, presentations, education materials, and more.

The addition of popular music to Canva comes amidst record growth, who added over 85 million new users in the last year alone. The new integration provides creators with legally cleared and popular music options for personal content that can be shared across multiple platforms, including TikTok, YouTube, and more. It’s made possible via partnerships between Canva and some of the world’s largest record labels and publishers.

In addition to opening new creative possibilities for Canva users, popular music on Canva puts artists’ music in the hands of millions of creators, and allows them to earn royalties when clips of their songs are used in published Canva designs.

“Like visual communication, music is a universal language that serves as a powerful tool for self-expression,” said Silvia Oviedo, Head of Content, Discovery and Print at Canva of the launch. “Adding popular music to Canva is a natural evolution of our vision to put the entire visual communication ecosystem under one simple platform. We’re thrilled to give users a unique starting point and make it easy for them to add great music to their work.”

“We always knew that ingesting music into a platform like Canva required a partner that understood the complexities of both the music and technology businesses,” explains Jack Davies, Chief of Staff for Content, “In 7digital, we have both a partner that can deliver music at scale and a partner that understands the benefits music brings to millions of Canva users.”

While the partnership promises new content opportunities for creators, it also offers new music opportunities for artists and record labels. “We’re excited to add music to the growing easy-to-use design capabilities of Canva.” Davies adds, “And we can’t wait to see what Canva users create next.”
