Let's be clear, if anyone is still expecting a re-hash of Hot Fuss they will be disappointed. While Sam's Town – derided by some, lauded by others - may have been a transitory album, Flowers and his Vegas brigade explicitly stated their intention to move on and Day & Age is the sound of their completed metamorphosis. Hurling themselves over the Atlantic once more, the band weave deftly between euphoric dancefloor fillers and the cynicism of New Wave.
We've got the album for £5 and you can grab it here. While warming your vocal chords in preparation for sing/screech/wail along session, you may like to watch the video for latest single 'Human' by clicking play on the left.
We’re assuming that the video to new single The Captain may have been directed by a member of the cult of Biffy - who else would have frontman Simon Neill chained up, half naked, aboard a pirate ship and whipped? Only a member of their cult would do such a thing, surey? With a new album Only Revolutions on the way, and songs as good as this, they’re sure to recruit more ship mates, as they set sail from being Britain’s biggest cult band to it’s biggest rock band.
Spock from Star Trek used to have a saying: ‘you can’t make cosmic omelette without breaking a few cosmic eggs'. (At least, we imagine he did). We can only guess how amazing a cosmic omelette would be, possibly the greatest thing ever, and a Cosmic Egg’s Benedict would probably change our lives. Sadly you won’t find them in Tesco however much you ask, but you can pick up Wolfmother’s new psychedelic prog-rock heavy metal offering ‘Cosmic Egg’ today for just £5.
