20th February 2017: 7digital, the B2B digital music and radio services company, today announces the appointment of Stacey Mitsopulos as its new Head of Legal & Business Affairs.
Reporting to Amy Wallace (General Counsel, SVP of Business Affairs), Mitsopulos will assume day-to-day responsibility for strategy and operation of legal & business affairs at 7digital, an area critical to the success and growth of the business. Mitsopulos brings to the role unrivalled expertise and insight from negotiating deals for the biggest entertainment companies in the world.
An accomplished music rights lawyer with over ten years’ experience representing Juno- and Grammy-nominated artists, songwriters, producers and independent labels and publishers, Mitsopulos most recently held the position of Director of Commercial & Business Affairs at The Box Plus Network – a top UK music television network (home to the likes of 4Music and Kerrang!), co-owned by Channel 4 and Bauer Media. Prior, she served as Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at leading independent entertainment and consumer products company DHX Media in Toronto. Mitsopulos was also a founding partner of Canada’s premiere entertainment law firm, Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland.
7digital’s Amy Wallace commented on the appointment: “Stacey’s appointment bolsters an already strong legal and business affairs team, where her expertise from working with major labels, as well as in the fields of content acquisition and media and technology law will be invaluable. This team provides end-to-end legal and business affairs support for the 7digital group – acquiring content from labels and publishers, negotiating Platform as a Service (PaaS) deals, and licensing 7digital Creative’s unique video and audio content to clients.”
Stacey Mitsopulos added: “In a fast-changing music industry landscape I can’t think of anywhere more exciting to begin a new role than at 7digital – in the past year alone the company has brokered some game-changing deals in territories around the world. I’m thrilled to be heading up the team as we negotiate the next deals that will generate revenues for the music industry, develop new partnerships, grow the 7digital business, and demonstrate the value of music to our clients.”
